SVT027 - 3 Years Stil Vor Talent Part THREE

Release Dates
Vinyl: 27.10.2008
Digital: 10.11.2008

Tracklist
a1 . Lützenkirchen - Nutcracker
a2 . Chopstick & Johnjon - Stethoskop
b1 . Norman Webber - Apos Pianopumpe
b2 . Stephan Hinz - Poppycock
b3 . Disko Toaster - Mr. love

3 years of Stil vor Talent, 3 EPs to celebrate. Here we go then with the last of the birthday celebratory ratpack with five equally fresh tracks from the creative wonderland that is Stil vor Talent. The show is kicked off by Lützenkirchen, mastermind behind great techno anthems and the ironic pop track 3 Tage Wach. His track Nutcracker fits the name: this is a cracking piece of dark techno. A rolling bass line, some grizzling effects, punchy percussions and a freaked-out melody will make this tune nest into many record boxes for sure. Next up are Chopstick & Johnjon, the Berlin-Hamburg-based production duo that present us their deeply chilling synth-monster Stethoskop. The melody and bassline create a haunting piece of electronic music that really only takes the thrill of things again when the groove kicks back in. Housy, yet extremely deep and moving: Nice! Move onto the flip for more house from Luna City Express’ frontman Norman Weber. His tune is a great deep house track with a steady wonderfully harmonic piano loop that just keeps ringing in your ear: Sweet! After that the stage is cleared for South-German producer Stephan Hinz, whose track Poppyrock is based on a nice shuffly beat pattern, a dialogue between two different snythies and some great snares and percussions. Then a xylophone is thrown in for good measure, which really turns the track around into one of those lurking-around-the-corner tech-anthems. Last up is also a South-German producer: Dizko Toaster. Pop-influenced squeaky house is his signature and he stays faithful to that: Mr Love is a feel-good-track par excellence. A melodic bassline, little bleeps and blops and a great vocal sample make this track fit for any partys - from South Germany to Hamburg to Ibiza and back to Berlin. Dizko Toaster is keeping things real for Stil vor Talent. Happy Birthday!

SVT026 - 3 Years Stil Vor Talent Part TWO - out now

Tracklist
a1 . format b - jawohl
a2 . florian meindl – rotor
b1 . channel x - sleeping dogs
b2 . jürgen kirsch - rain in Osaka

And here comes part two of the phenomenal 3-EP packet of all-excklusive fresh tracks on Stil vor Talent. This EP is full on minimal club mode as the names of the artists suggest: oldskool club honchos Format B, tricky finger Florian Meindl, live-act of the moment Channel X and steady as ever producer Jürgen Kirsch have each produced one track for this blasting vinyl. Format B start off the fireworks with their track Jawohl, a warm and really pleasing minimal club track with some great synthies, some bits of white noise and a typically funked-up loop. Great oldskool party mayhem and more minimal house than minimal techno: just nice! Next up it’s Florian Meindl with his fidgety peak time thriller ride Rotor. As the name suggests, this track will spin your head and make you spin on the floor for more: a tough loop, a non-stopping twitching synth, some funky effects and a simple recipe of up and down and up again make this a killer track for any time on the dancefloor. On the flip it’s time for Channel X: Their track Sleeping Dogs features a deep and delayed vocal sample, yet the rest of the track at first seems like more in-your-face party antics. There’s a straight forward and pretty hefty techno loop, a tripped out melody, but what Channel X manage to do best is to keep the soul in techno: a great delayed stab and the vocals make this track simply unique. Really nice! Last up is Jürgen Kirsch with his sweeping techno-synth-monster Rain is Osaka: this is definitely one for the later hours. Some great shifting synthie patterns, a wooden loop and a warm bass make this track the perfect last tune for this EP: melodic and warm, yet still focussed on the floor. Just like we like it!

This September Oliver Koletzki’s label Stil vor Talent will turn three years old. A lot has happened since DJ and producer Oliver Koletzki started the label in September 2005: Stil vor Talent can look back on 23 EPs, both underground techno tracks and popular hits, the discovery of great newcomer artists, one artist album and many, many parties. Now, as a birthday present to all of Stil vor Talent’s listeners and followers, this double-CD takes on the task of showcasing past, present and future of the label that is Stil vor Talent.

The two most prolific names on the label – that have released quite a number of EPs themselves – are Oliver Koletzki and Florian Meindl. The two DJs and producers have become very good friends over the years. Actually, it was Oliver Koletzki who discovered Florian’s talent in 2005 and since then, they have been working together on various projects. So who else would be more appropriate than Florian Meindl and the label boss himself to present a DJ mix for Stil vor Talent.

Oliver Koletzki takes over the part of showcasing the present and future of Stil vor Talent. WHAT WE DO is a compilation of 16 tracks that have been licensed exclusively for this mix. In his encapsulating DJ style Oliver Koletzki immerses the listener into the world of Stil vor Talent. It all starts out with Johnjon’s wonderfully musical Simple Days. Not only does Oliver Koletzki include new material of the artists on the label, he also puts in some new fresh names for good measure. One of them is Animaltrainer – residents at Zurich’s Hive Club – who have produced Real Ghetto Tray, a real ear-catching club tune. Also new is David Keno with Adore, Norman Weber with Apos Pianopumpe or Mickey Monzza & Joseph Disco with their stabby techno pusher Lonely. But the well-known Stil vor Talent artists have also shied neither time nor effort to produce fresh new material: Be it Channel X’s deep minimal track Sleeping Dogs or Kai Kurve’s piano-electronica piece Peppermint Patty. Not to forget Format B’s most-likely-to-become-a-real-hit-tune Jawohl. Oliver Koletzki has really taken the best of what his artist pool has to offer and has created a both very personal and charming mix, yet always with a focus on the floor. This mix is what Stil vor Talent is all about: many different musical styles, great artists – both newcomers and established producers and a real family atmosphere.

On the second CD Florian Meindl presents the last three years of Stil vor Talent by mixing 16 tracks seamlessly into each other. His focus is clear: this is Stil vor Talent’s minimal side of things, from the dancefloor for the dancefloor. He starts out with the title track of his first ever single on Stil vor Talent Sputnik, a funked-up minimal piece of electro that reminds us of the early days of the label. Then it’s straight onto more recent stuff. Channel X’s housy minimal tracks Bug Trouble and Black Coffee, Johnjon’s great Ach Gewitter and H.O.S.H.’s house-anthem Blaupause mark the beginning of his DJ mix. With three Format B tracks that have been a huge success for the label Florian Meindl gets down and dirty and paves the way for the peaktime of his mix. He really hits things off the roof by including Oliver Koletzki and Kiki’s übercool club track Don’t forget to go home. After this peak Florian Meindl slowly brings it down again with his own track Second Man on the Moon and Jürgen Kirsch’s Paladina before getting us all very sentimental by playing the first ever single on Stil vor Talent – Oliver Koletzki’s wonderful Blackout. Hearing this again is like listening to your favorite teen band: it will run shivers down your spine. WHAT WE DID is a magnificent homage to Stil vor Talent’s ability to release records for the dancefloors of the world.

These two mixes are not only an absolute necessity for the die-hard Stil vor Talent fan. They are the perfect pre-clubbing-companion, the only way to listen to many new and unreleased tracks and the best overview of a small and upcoming label that is set to become even bigger: with its modest and naturally sympathetic way of getting things done. Happy Birthday!

SVT024 - 3 Years Stil Vor Talent Part ONE - out now

Tracklist
a1 . lexy - fancy girl
a2 . joseph disco & mickey monzza - lonely
b1 . h.o.s.h. - ben johnson
b2 . animal trainer – talkshow

This is the first EP of a series of three that each feature 4 of the all-exclusive brand new Stil vor Talent tracks that can be found on the monumental third birthday celebration mix by label man himself Oliver Koletzki. These hand-picked tracks are now available on a DJ-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-EP and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. The first of the bunch starts off with big man Lexy’s Fancy Girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. Add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! After this introduction, it’s the newcomers Mickey Monzza & Joseph Disco’s turn with their equally stimulating track Lonely. This is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. The Hi-Hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. Simply nice! But hold on, there is more to come. On the flip there is Hamburg’s house impressario H.O.S.H. with his track Ben Johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, it’s a pretty record-worthy track: Wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. Then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. This is truely delicious! The two newcomers and residents at Hive club in Zurich Animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this EP with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair. Some funky vocals, great claps, a moving bass and that special extra bit you need to pack the floor: this is Class A dancefloor material. Watch your dose, don’t overdose on this and keep your mind open for the next four-track EP on Stil vor Talent in October.
